Counterfeit Policy

counterfeit-policyCounterfeit components filtering into the supply chain are causing a huge economic impact on the electronics industry, as experts believe that approximately 30-35% of all components being sold are counterfeit. To address this problem, North Shore Components has implemented a proactive and comprehensive counterfeit component policy for all materials entering or leaving our facility. To help prevent the purchase of counterfeit, suspect or unapproved products, we purchase components directly from:

  • Original Component Manufacturers (OCMs)
  • Franchised Distributors
  • Authorized Remanufacturers

Certain hard-to-find or obsolete products cannot always be obtained from these primary sources. In such instances, it may be necessary to source components through brokers or independent distributors. To continually verify vender quality, we carefully monitor the ongoing performance of all vendors utilizing a variety of criteria, including rigorous inspection procedures for counterfeit detection. Highlights of these procedures include:

Final inspection checklists

  • Resistance to solvents (MIL-STD 202G, MIL-STD-883G)
  • Adherence to IDEA-STD-1010-A: Acceptability of Electronic Components Distributed in the Open Market
