North Shore Components utilizes precision made carrier tapes engineered for improved consistency and pocket precision to provide reliable components protection and greater productivity with pick-and-place equipment. Our precision carrier tapes are manufactured with proprietary resins that provide blemish-free surfaces and more consistent dimensions during forming and clean punching operations. All pockets – large or small, simple or complex – are precisely manufactured with flat bottoms, sharp corners, and flat side walls to optimize device support and pick-and-place presentation.
A choice of materials
Tape widths of 8mm to 12mm utilize polycarbonate materials with either clear non-conductive or black carbon-filled conductive resin to provide ESD protection. Tape widths of 12 mm to 88 mm are thermoformed from clear non-conductive polystyrene sheets with matte surfaces to facilitate automated inspection. Polycarbonate materials are considered superior to polystyrene for heat resistance, camber, dimensional stability during temperature variations, and tear resistance with high speed placing machines.
We also offer a static-dissipative tri-laminate tape (polystyrene/ABS/Polystyrene) that offers increased strength and dimensional stability over conventional polystyrene.
